Contents

The course "Introductory Week" is the official kickoff for the Master's Program Economics at WU Vienna. The units provide a good mix of information and inspiration for students belonging to the new cohort. Key features of the program are introduced to make students aware of the many opportunities offered.

  • Practical advice will be provided how to have a good start into the program
  • Students have the opportunity to participate in a field trip to visit a place of interest for economists in Vienna
  • Introduction to the Austrian economy and research at the Department of Economics
  • Students get to know their peers and the program team
Learning outcomes
  • Students get equipped with the information necessary to have a good start into the Master's Program Economics.
  • They obtain a better understanding of the social and economic context within which the program takes place.
  • Also, students will have many chances to get to know each other better.
Attendance requirements

Attendance of Introductory Week is mandatory as it represents a regular course being part of the program.

Teaching/learning method(s)

The course offers a well-balanced mix of lectures, field trips and social interactions to provide useful and interesting information to students. It offers many opportunities for asking questions and for getting to know each other.

Assessment

The course is graded pass/fail. Regular attendance and active participation are required to pass the course.
