This course will look at key aspects of management and communication within the context of leadership and change processes. Based on established theoretical concepts, we will analyze recent and current developments in global business to establish an array of relevant factors contributing to the success or failure of transforming organizations.
After completing this course, students will be able to:
- identify the communication as an essential pillar of strategic management;
- understand the implementation of communication at all relevant stages of change management;
- analyze real-life examples of organizational development with special regard to the role of communication and culture
In line with WU regulations for PI-type classes. Mandatory attendance with a maximum of 20% of class time that can be missed; however, missing class time will result in potential loss of participation and/or in-class assignment points for the sessions in question.
Team teaching by two lecturers with complementary skill sets. Students will be exposed to the theoretical underpinning of management and leadership models as well as related communication and cultural aspects, and then have the chance to analyze real-life cases in the course of ongoing exercises as well as a comprehensive final presentation.
Regular in-class assignments: 30% total
Ongoing participation: 20%
Presentation (group and individual elements): 30%
Final exam: 20%
Content as well as appropriate language use will form the basis of assessment.
