The aim of this course is to develop students’ intercultural competence, i.e., the awareness of and sensitivity to aspects of intercultural communication, the ability to analyze intercultural situations, and the ability to participate in interactions with people with different linguistic or cultural backgrounds. In particular, this course focuses on the CEE region. In a series of interactive workshops, the participants will explore, analyze, and reflect on examples of intercultural communication from the CEE region that will be presented in the form of authentic spoken and written excerpts, visual materials, and critical incidents. Participants will also create their own portfolios exhibiting selected moments of their intercultural competence development, comprising diary entries from field trips in the CEE region, their own critical incident, analyses of selected studies addressing intercultural communication, and a personal reflection.
