WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) is committed to protecting your personal data. Your personal data are kept confidential and processed in accordance with the provisions of the applicable data protection laws. In fulfillment of the regulations of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), in particular Articles 13 and 14, we would like to inform you about the types of personal data that are processed in connection with your registration and use of the ENGAGE.EU signature course portal and also about the purposes for which these data are processed.

WHICH TYPES OF PERSONAL DATA ARE PROCESSED?
When you access our website, information is collected and stored by the system that your browser automatically transmits to us under the data protection statement of the WU website.
Creating a user account is voluntary but necessary to take full advantage of the website's offerings, such as the use of in-depth content on the portal and online modules.
When you create a user account, we also process your name, email address, a password of your choice so you can log in with your email address and password on future visits. Further, data about your activities on the platform are processed about the online modules you have started and/or completed, your answers to interactive exercises, tasks, and quiz results. The latter are forwarded to the responsible teacher of the institution you are enrolled to grade the course.
FOR WHICH PURPOSES DO WE PROCESS YOUR DATA?
WU Vienna provides this portal to host the ENGAGE.EU signature course. It consists of individual online modules created by higher education institutions in the ENGAGE.EU consortium. The multimedia and interactive online modules will only be available to students registered for the course at the partner universities involved in the signature course and other people involved in the project. The completion of the modules is part of the assessment.
We process the data you provide when you create a user account for the purposes of user administration and to provide you with an individualized user account with which you can use the contents of the ENGAGE.EU signature course portal, such as completing online modules and taking part in quizzes and exercises.
We also use the e-mail address for administrative notification of expiration and subsequent deletion of your user account.
WHAT IS THE LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING YOUR DATA?

The consent can be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future. The withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of the processing of your data carried out on the basis of your consent until the withdrawal.
Please note that the processing of data is relevant for the examination process and that a withdrawal of your consent may interfere with the passing of the courses.
DOES THE PROCESSING INVOLVE ANY AUTOMATED DECISION-MAKING (INCLUDING PROFILING)?
The processing of the personal data does not involve any automated decision-making.
ARE YOU OBLIGATED TO PROVIDE YOUR PERSONAL DATA?
For the use of the portal as well as to access the online modules, registration is required by providing your data. Otherwise, they cannot be used.
TO WHICH OTHER PARTIES DO WE PASS ON YOUR DATA?
The exam results are exported and forwarded to the responsible teachers of the institution where the student is enrolled for grading of the course, specifically: Norwegian School of Economics, University of Mannheim, University of Toulouse 1 Capitole, and Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU).
HOW LONG DO WE STORE YOUR DATA?
We process your data only as long as your user account exists. If the user account is inactive after completing the course for six months, it will automatically be deleted.
WHAT ARE YOUR RIGHTS AS A DATA SUBJECT?
As a data subject in the context of these data processing operations, you have the following rights vis-a-vis WU as the controller: information and access, rectification, deletion, restriction of data processing, data portability, and objection. As a data subject, you also have the right to file a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority.
