ENGAGE.EU Terms of use

1. SCOPE OF APPLICATION

The Vienna University of Economics and Business (abbreviated to ?WU?) provides the ENGAGE.EU signature course portal under the URL https://learn.wu.ac.at/engage-eu. It is a voluntary service provided by WU. Changes or additions to the terms of use, the scope of use and/or the content provided may be made at any time without notice.

The current version of the directives and policies of IT-SERVICES, available at https://www.wu.ac.at/en/it/security/policy/, must be observed.

2. AUTHORIZATION OF USE

In order to be able to use the services of the ENGAGE.EU signature course portal and access the online modules, registration and login are required. Mandatory entries are the first name, the last name, password, and email address. The authorized users (short ?USER?) are obliged to handle the login data carefully. In particular, these must not be passed on! In case of suspicion of loss or misuse, a report must be sent immediately to learnpublic@wu.ac.at. USERS with access to the ENGAGE.EU signature course portal also have access to the German-language and publicly accessible portal LearnPublic with these login data.

3. PURPOSE OF THE ONLINE MODULES OF THE ENGAGE.EU SIGNATURE COURSE

WU Vienna provides this portal to host the ENGAGE.EU signature course. It consists of individual online modules created by higher education institutions in the ENGAGE.EU consortium. The multimedia and interactive online modules will only be available to students registered for the course at the partner universities involved in the signature course and other people involved in the project. The completion of the modules is part of the assessment.

4. OPERATION OF THE ENGAGE.EU SIGNATURE COURSE PORTAL

WU is responsible for access to the courses on the ENGAGE.EU signature course portal as well as for organizational arrangements and technical support. WU does not guarantee that the portal will operate (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) without interruption or error, nor that any errors will be corrected.

Without exception, WU is not liable for any service disruptions or damages caused or contributed to by the hardware or software used by the authorized users. This includes any damage that is incidental or consequential to the download or use of the content.

WU cannot guarantee the accuracy of the content, or the legality of the content or information posted by authorized users.

The person providing the specific content is solely responsible for the legality of the content. The person assures that the use is lawful, in particular, that no illegal purposes are pursued, that copyrights, data protection rights, and other personal rights are observed, and that no discriminatory, no extremist, or no pornographic content is disseminated.

5. DUTIES OF THE USER

  • To deal with the terms of use and to use the portal according to the terms of use.
  • Each USER is obligated to maintain an appealing culture of discussion and in particular to refrain from defamatory or other personality-injuring statements as well as inaccurate and unobjective remarks.
  • If the content is made available, WU is obligated to indemnify and hold WU harmless from and against any claims asserted by third parties in connection with the provision of such content. Concerning the employees of WU, the operational agreements and the Employee Liability Act shall remain unaffected.
  • When using the portal, the applicable laws must be observed. In particular, it is not permitted to set links or to disseminate, access, and/or store content that violates existing laws, in particular pornographic content, content depicting or glorifying violence, offensive or discriminatory content (e.g. attacks on gender, sexual orientation, origin, religion or political views).

6. VIOLATION OF THE TERMS OF USE

The content provided may be protected by copyright. If these are resold, for example, this may have consequences under both civil and criminal law.

WU may block access authorization in the event of a violation of the applicable terms of use. This can already happen if there is a reasonable suspicion of a violation.

Content that violates existing laws or does not comply with the described purpose online modules of the ENGAGE.EU signature course will be removed.

7. LAW AND JURISDICTION

Disputes arising from these Terms of Use shall be governed by Austrian law. The place of jurisdiction is the competent court in Vienna.
