This is an introduction to game theory and its applications. For more information on the units of the course see https://learn.wu.ac.at/vvz/19w/0618
After completing this class the students will have the ability to
- recognize strategic problems
- model those strategic problems as games
- analyze these games using the methods and tools of game theory
- find and interpret the equilibria of these games
- formulate a concise assessment of the strategic problem and its possible solution in game-theoretic terms
- translate these terms into policy recommendations for efficient ways of handling or even solving the underlying strategic problem.
The teaching method is an interactive style. We will have some parts with frontal lecture but many parts with interactive participation of students via examples and exercises.
The final grade will be determined by:
test 1: 40 %
test 2: 40 %
and test 3 which is optional and replaces one of the former tests.
homework 20 % .
In addition, bonus points can be obtained through active class participation which will be added after reaching 60 % (60 points) with the criteria mentioned above.
> 90 % = 1
90 - 80 % = 2
80 % - 70 % = 3
70 % - 60 % = 4
< 60 % fail.
