Lecturecasts

At the application Lecturecasts you can find your lectures which you have recorded via Lecture Recording before WS 2023/24. Additionally, you can upload external videos and allow students to comment them. You can also give permission to the students to upload own videos.

The new Lecturecast Video Player

Lecture recording is conducted via Planet eStream since WS 2023/24. More information about recording in the lecture rooms can be found in the Medienguide.

To make a lecture cast available for your students, you have to publish it.

  1. In the list of lecture casts, click at the icon for the chosen video.
  2. Confirm your choice with "Veröffentlichen“.

After publication, students have access to the lecture cast.

You can upload an external video in the lecturecasts section. Video file size may not exceed 2048MB. Standard formats such as avi, mp4, flv, wmv are supported.

  1. Click "New" / "Upload video" in the menu.
  2. Choose a file and confirm with OK. Depending on the speed of your internet connection, uploads can take from 1 to 10 minutes to complete. A progress bar indicates the remaining time.

In case two videos are uploaded, audio will come from the first file and this will be treated as the lecturer signal in the player, while the second file will be the slides signal.

Troubleshooting

If a course is linked to a repository course, the lecture casts of the repository course can be inherited by the associated courses. However, this requires that the lecture casts are "published" in the repository course!
